Minka (民家) are folk homes constructed in any one of several traditional Japanese building styles. During the Edo period, the Minka were known for housing artisans, farmers and merchants. In other words, all but the Samurai class.
The Minka are very characteristic of Japanese history and culture. That is why decorative miniature Minka were created that evoke the same warm feelings.
