Bonsaiplaza Acquires Collection and Inventory of Deshima Bonsai

With mutual respect and in a spirit of trust, Deshima Bonsai and Bonsai Plaza have agreed that the collection and inventory of Deshima Bonsai will be taken over by Bonsai Plaza B.V. This agreement was made by Gerard and Marien Klein together with Maarten and Jacqueline, fulfilling the explicit wish of Teunis Jan.

Deshima Bonsai

Teunis Jan Klein, founder of Deshima Bonsai, passed away on 18 May this year after a short and severe illness. His death was a shock, also within the (inter)national bonsai world. Gerard and Marien Klein have found a reliable and dedicated partner in Bonsai Plaza to take over the collection and inventory of Deshima Bonsai. The knowledge and expertise within Bonsai Plaza ensures a careful process in giving the collection and inventory a new destination.

Wish of Teunis Jan Klein

With the sale of the collection and inventory of Deshima Bonsai to Bonsai Plaza, an important wish of Teunis Jan comes true. “With the transfer to Maarten, we know we are acting in the spirit of Teunis Jan,” says Gerard Klein. “We are happy and grateful that the wisdom and craftsmanship of Teunis Jan, as well as his passion that is still tangible in every tree, pot, and tool, remain visible in this way and in the good hands of Bonsai Plaza,” adds Marien. Finally, Maarten and Jacqueline state: “For us, this acquisition also expresses our personal appreciation for Teunis Jan.”
