Sharaku (しゃらく / 写楽)

Sharaku (しゃらく / 写楽)

Sharaku - Masahiro Shimotori
Sharaku (しゃらく / 写楽)was born in 1940 and from 1997 was a student of the master of glazes; Bushuan (Shigeru Fukuda / Fukushige). He also studied in Guangdong / Canton province in South China several years later.
His pots are beautifully refined, with true lines and curves, and superb glazes - although generally more reserved than his master Bushuan. These wonderful pieces perfectly suit the modern culture of bonsai, albeit largely based on traditional design.

Student of Kunio Kobayashi and of Bushuan, Sharaku is a fantastic potter, mostly of glazed shohin pots. He has a distinctive almost contemporary style and produces some incredible glazes.
His pots are rising in value, and are in the mid to high price range, with these pots ranging from £70 to £400.
