Callus Mate wound paste for junipers – 150 g
Callus Mate wound paste for junipers is a Japanese wound paste for juniper bonsai, used after pruning, grafting and other work that leaves exposed cut surfaces. It is applied directly to the wound to help protect the cut while the tree begins to heal.
Based on Kaneshin’s product description, this healing compound is especially suitable for conifers such as shimpaku and pine, as well as satsuki, because its dark brown colour is less noticeable on darker bark. After application, the paste gradually becomes darker over time, which helps it remain discreet in use on juniper material.
The product is intended for pruning wounds, grafting cuts and damaged tissue, where a protective coating helps shield the cut surface and supports orderly healing. Other specialist bonsai retailers describe Callus Mate as a wound sealant for cuts and grafts that dries to form a protective barrier and supports healing.
A key practical feature of Callus Mate is its quick-drying, well-adhering paste texture. Japanese seller descriptions also note that it blends well with the bark and does not detract from appearance, making it particularly suitable for visible work on juniper bonsai.
This version is supplied in a 150 g tube, making it a practical size for regular bonsai work.
Please note: apply to clean pruning wounds or grafting cuts only. The paste darkens after application. Keep out of reach of children and store in a cool, dry place.
