Hanagén wound paste Hi for Deciduous Trees
Hanagén wound paste Hi for Deciduous Trees is a Japanese wound sealant paste developed for use on deciduous bonsai and other broadleaf trees. It is applied after pruning or branch removal to cover the exposed cut surface and support neat, controlled healing.
This paste helps to protect pruning wounds against moisture ingress and the development of decay, while also encouraging the formation of callus tissue around the edge of the cut. For bonsai work, this is especially useful on larger pruning wounds where a clean finish and orderly healing are important.
Hanagén Cut Paste Hi is valued for its good adhesion and practical handling. Once applied, it remains in place well and is unlikely to wash away easily during rain or watering. The manufacturer also notes that it is less likely to cause discolouration of the trunk, which makes it particularly suitable for visible areas on deciduous bonsai.
After application, small cracks may appear around the outer edge of the paste after some time. This is generally not a defect; rather, it can be a sign that callus formation has begun. The paste is intended to support the tree’s natural healing response while shielding the wound during the critical early stage.
This version is supplied in a 160 g container and is suitable for the aftercare of pruning wounds on deciduous bonsai, garden trees and other broadleaf species.
