Kiyonal wound paste – 100 g
Kiyonal wound paste is a Japanese wound protection paste for bonsai, garden trees, fruit trees and flowering trees. It is used after pruning and grafting to cover exposed cut surfaces and help protect the wound during the healing process. The official product information presents it specifically as a protective treatment for pruning cuts and grafting work.
According to the original Japanese product information, Kiyonal helps protect wounds against rainwater ingress, nutrient loss, cracking caused by drying, and the entry of decay fungi, all of which can weaken the tree or lead to disease. The paste is also intended to support callus formation and tissue union, making it suitable both for pruning aftercare and for grafting work.
A distinctive feature of Kiyonal is its green paste texture with slight tack and viscosity. Rather than drying completely hard straight away, it remains semi-dry for a period after application. According to the manufacturer, this helps prevent the protective layer from cracking as the wound dries, thereby giving the tree steadier protection during early healing.
The official instructions advise applying the paste as evenly as possible so that the cambium around the wound is covered. If healing begins from the edge and cracks appear in the coating, the manufacturer advises reapplying as needed. For grafting, the official instructions state that the graft should first be tied, after which the paste is applied over it.
This version is supplied in a 100 g tube, making it a practical size for regular bonsai work and general pruning aftercare.
Please note: apply to clean pruning wounds or grafting cuts only. If the coating cracks as healing progresses, reapply as needed. Keep out of reach of children and store in a cool, dry place.
